Privacy Policy

Language notice: This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") is authored in Japanese as the authoritative language. Versions in English, Chinese, Korean, or other languages are reference translations provided for the convenience of readers; in case of any discrepancy, the Japanese version prevails (Article 10).

Effective date: 2026-XX-XX Last amended: 2026-XX-XX

Article 1 (Basic policy)

The operator (the "Operator") of the website "jpcost.keydrop.net" (the "Site") respects the privacy of Site users (the "User") and handles information in accordance with this Policy.

The Site does not require User registration. The Operator does not intentionally collect information that directly identifies the User (such as name, email address, telephone number, or postal address).

Article 2 (Information collected)

In connection with use of the Site, the following information may be collected or used. None of this information directly identifies an individual, but may be processed for technical or statistical purposes by third-party service providers.

  1. Access logs: time of access, referrer URL, user agent, IP address (via the standard logging mechanism of CloudFront).
  2. Cookies and similar technologies:
    • Consent management: localStorage (key: jpcost_consent_v1) recording the User's consent state, valid for up to 12 months.
    • Country-based delivery: an x-jpcost-country cookie (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code) issued by CloudFront, valid for 24 hours.
  3. Information derived from Google Analytics 4 (only with the User's consent): visited pages, sessions, device type, region (country level), referrer, browser, anonymized IP-derived information, etc.
  4. Information derived from Google AdSense (only with the User's consent): cookies for advertising delivery, advertising IDs, browsing history, contextual ad-selection information.
  5. Temporarily stored input values: the User's calculator inputs (city, currency, duration, lifestyle, etc.) are handled exclusively in the User's browser (localStorage, etc.) and are not transmitted to the Operator's servers.

Article 3 (Purposes of use)

The information collected is used for:

  1. operating, providing, improving, maintaining the quality of, and preventing misuse of the Site;
  2. analyzing access trends (anonymous statistics);
  3. optimizing advertising delivery (only with the User's consent, via Google AdSense);
  4. investigating and responding to security incidents and outages;
  5. investigating and responding to violations of this Policy or the Terms of Service;
  6. fulfilling legal obligations.

Article 4 (Cookies / Google Analytics 4)

  1. The Site uses Google Analytics 4 ("GA4") provided by Google LLC. GA4 uses cookies and similar technologies to collect anonymous statistics about the User's interaction with the Site.
  2. GA4 is configured for Google Consent Mode v2, with the default for all storage categories (analytics_storage / ad_storage / ad_user_data / ad_personalization) set to denied. Until the User explicitly grants permission via the consent banner, GA4 sends only minimal pings without identifiers.
  3. GA4 has IP-anonymization (anonymize_ip: true) enabled.
  4. The handling of information by GA4 is subject to Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Google Analytics Terms (https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/analytics/terms/us/).
  5. The User may decline GA4 tracking by configuring the browser's cookie settings or installing the GA4 opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Article 5 (Google AdSense / behavioral advertising)

  1. The Site uses Google AdSense provided by Google LLC to deliver advertisements. AdSense may display interest-based advertising using cookies and advertising IDs.
  2. AdSense cookies are set only when the User selects "Accept all" or grants advertising in the customized consent. Without consent, AdSense displays only contextual (page-content based) advertisements.
  3. To opt out of personalized advertising, the User can use Google's Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads).
  4. Cookies set by third-party advertising networks or advertisers are subject to those entities' respective privacy policies.

Article 6 (Country-based delivery and GDPR compliance)

  1. Based on country detection by CloudFront (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2), accesses originating from the 31 EU/EEA countries (EU member states + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and the United Kingdom) are presented with a mandatory consent modal that restricts main-site interaction until the User makes a choice.
  2. For Users outside the EU/EEA, a dismissible banner is displayed in the bottom-right of the screen. In either case, consent state is stored in localStorage for up to 12 months and re-verified after expiration.
  3. As an audit trail at the time of consent, the consent decision (granted/denied), timestamp, locale, URL, and inferred country code are recorded in localStorage (intended to satisfy the documentation requirement of GDPR Article 7(1)). Such records are retained only in the User's browser and are not transmitted to the Operator's servers.

Article 7 (Disclosure to third parties)

  1. The Operator does not disclose the User's information to third parties, except for the third-party service providers (Google LLC and others) listed in Article 2.
  2. Disclosure to such third-party providers is limited to the minimum necessary for the relevant feature.
  3. The Operator may disclose the User's information outside the scope of this Policy in any of the following cases:
    1. when required by law;
    2. when necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person and obtaining the User's consent is difficult;
    3. when necessary to defend the Operator's rights, interests, or reputation in judicial or administrative proceedings.

Article 8 (Disclosure, correction, or deletion)

  1. Because the Site does not collect information that directly identifies an individual, the Operator generally does not hold information subject to individual disclosure, correction, or deletion requests.
  2. The User may at any time delete the Operator's consent records and GA4 / AdSense cookies by clearing cookies and localStorage in the browser.
  3. IP addresses included in CloudFront access logs are automatically deleted in accordance with CloudFront's standard retention period. The Operator is not obligated to respond to individual deletion requests for such logs.

Article 9 (Amendments)

  1. The Operator may amend this Policy at any time without individual notice to the User. The amended Policy takes effect upon posting on the Site.
  2. If the User uses the Site after the amendment, the User is deemed to have agreed to the amended Policy.
  3. For material changes, the Operator will make reasonable efforts to provide notice on the Site (e.g., banners or change-log pages).

Article 10 (Language priority)

  1. The authoritative version of this Policy is the Japanese version.
  2. Translations into English, Chinese, Korean, or other languages posted on the Site are reference translations provided for the convenience of readers.
  3. In the event of any discrepancy, mistranslation, ambiguity, or contradiction between a translation and the Japanese version, the Japanese version shall always prevail.

Article 11 (Governing law and jurisdiction)

  1. This Policy shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Japan.
  2. Any dispute arising in connection with this Policy or the handling of personal information on the Site shall be submitted to the Tokyo District Court as the court of exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance.

Article 12 (Contact)

Inquiries regarding this Policy or the handling of personal information on the Site should be sent to the contact listed on the Site. The Operator gives no warranty regarding the obligation or timing of any response.
